Rust is a complicated electrochemical process where a metal is converted to an oxide whenever it comes in contact with oxygen in the presence of moisture, and that can happen even in the protective custody of your garage. Because of that, the longer you own a car, the more likely that one day you’ll find rust on it.
Depending upon the nature of the panel and the severity of the rust there are many techniques we can use to return the panel to its original condition.
- Rust converters in the form of brush-on liquids
- Sand back to bare metal
- Cut out the rust, weld in a new panel section
Once the rust has been removed the panel is then primed with an etch primer, a high solid primer filler is applied before sanding back before topcoat application. Upon completion, the panel is then completely free of rust or other defects.
